Last night after work Jerry, Drew, and myself spent a few hours at Crema hanging all the pieces for my show. After a few hours of arranging and re-arranging the room over and over we were finished and headed out for vegan corndogs and PBRs at the Hungry Tiger, Too. I'm super stoked on how everything looks and even more stoked that i can stop stresssing out now that it's all up.

Yesterday, after a long day at work, Blake and Ryan met up at my place for a ride. We didn't have a plan of where to go so we just headed west across the river into northwest Portland. We eventually hit highway 30 and continued to pedal on until we got to the St. Johns Bridge where we stopped for a short break then headed across the bridge and rode through north Portland back to southeast. The ride was about 30 miles and lasted a couple hours. We celebrated our conquest with cheap tacos and Mexican beer late into the warm Portland night.

This past Sunday I went to Stumptown on 34th and Belmont for some wake up juice and to read the paper. Not to my surprise, I ran into Clay, Olaf, and Darrell. They were caffeinating themselves before riding their bikes to the blacktop at Sunnyside. After finishing our coffee we rode to the blacktop and I was able to snap a few photos.

There isn’t better way to end a long bike ride better than your favorite café or coffee shop. As this awesome blog post put it “A bike ride doesn’t end at the sprint finish - it ends after some good food and a few coffees are consumed at your favorite cafe.” (seen here). It’s true. And this post-ride tradition is where many friendships have been formed over cup of coffee or a few cold pints of IPA. I’m going to attempt to catalog, not only my rides, but also the places, new and old, where I refuel.

This last Saturday I rode with a friend to St Honore Bakery off on Thurman Street off 23rd ave in Northwest Portland. If you haven’t been I highly suggest you try their selection of amazing pastries and Sandwiches. It’s a perfect location for a mid-ride pit stop.

In Sellwood, overlooking Oaks Bottom, there is a large blue building with huge birds painted on it. There is a great view of the building from the Spring Water Trail, where i often ride. I've always assumed it was an old hospital or a brewery or something like that. While on a ride on The Spring Water with my friend Victor he told me that it's actually a mausoleum . Upon finding this out, naturally, i wanted to go exploring. Victor and i rode up to Sellwood from the trail and went in the building to. We walked around for a while and shot photos.

This weekend i worked on a campaign shoot for Portland fashion designer Liza Rietz. Liza sews each garment by hand; creating beautiful custom garments. After caffeinating ourselves Bryan Myss (amazing photographer, good friend, and founder of Latitude Longitude) and I met up with the rest of the crew at Liza's studio on Savior st off 23rd ave in Portland. We shot at Oaks Bottom in southeast Portland and at Hotel Modera downtown.

A few weeks ago a friend and i traveled north to catch the release party for "This Lonesome Town" the new record by Seattle's best alt-country band Westerly. Yesterday afternoon Ryan and I met up with some kids in south east for a ride. A few minutes into our ride we got caught in a torrential downpour. None of us were prepared for the rain so we took cover under a bridge and shot some photos while we waited for the rain to let up.

I recently shot some promo photos for new Portland indie rock band The Reed Sea. I'm stoked on what these guys are doing. It kind of reminds me of 90's indie rock; early death cab and american football with a bit of electronics. They will be playing some shows in the Portland area soon. These photos are amazing.
On April 4, 1968, LIFE photographer Henry Groskinsky and writer Mike Silva, on assignment in Alabama, learned that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., had been shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. They raced to the scene and there, incredibly, had unfettered access to the hotel grounds, Dr. King's room, and the surrounding area. For reasons that have been lost in the intervening years, the photographs taken that night and the next day were never published. Until now.
